Adaptogenic Superfood Cacao Bark

Read on for DEETS on this SUPER delish treat!

Calling all chocoholics – GOOD NEWS – you can be healthy and still eat chocolate! And this is one of our FAV superfood treats.

Fun fact: Theobroma Cacao translates to “food of the Gods” in Greek! So we can literally eat like goddesses! There are a ton of benefits of cacao – it can help lower blood pressure, improve blood flow, raise HDL (the good cholesterol), reduce inflammation, and even boost your immune system. Of course – we can go on and on about cacao, but we will save that for a future blog post. We know you are here for the CHOCOLATE EATS, so we got you!

Before you get to baking, remember this quick tip: when shopping, know that quality matters – regular chocolate on the market is highly processed and drowning in sugar and dairy. Be intentional about choosing the most raw, pure, and unprocessed form (aka – CACAO). See below for brand recs.

Okay, back to the melting in your mouth part! Check out this recipe below and have a blast! Tag us in your final result pics on the gram @WellnessForHou.

This adaptogen superfood cacao bark is dairy-free, gluten-free, and processed sugar free – so enjoy EVERY bite! No need to be cacao-ulated. 😉

HOW TO

  1. Melt cacao butter stove-top on a double boiler – stir often! (microwaving works too in a pinch)
  2. Sprinkle & mix in cacao powder, adaptogens, coconut sugar, and sea salt to your desired sweetness.
  3. Pour melted mixture evenly into parchment paper lined pan or glass dish to desired thickness.
  4. Let cool for 20-30 minutes on counter. Don’t forget to lick the bowl!
  5. Add your favorite superfood toppings – be creative! Put in fridge until ready to break into pieces and enjoy!

Note: If the mixture isn’t cool enough, toppings will sink straight to the bottom. If the mixture is too cool, toppings won’t stick to the top.
